Paradise Coast Sports Complex was proud to welcome two 5K runs in recent weeks, as the STARability Foundation Run, Walk and Roll 5K and the 2023 Run to End Domestic Violence race enjoyed stellar weather and scenic views during their events.
Over 430 participants joined STARability Foundation’s sixth annual Run, Walk and Roll on Oct. 21. The race was timed by Florida Race Day and emceed by WINK News anchor Corey Lazar.
STARability raised more than $100,000 which included a $10,000 challenge by co-chairs Jeff and Maureen Maconaghy, making it the most successful race to date. Funds will be used to expand STARability’s innovative, life-transforming programs and services that shine light on ability, not disability and meet increasing community needs.
“I witnessed more than just another STARability Foundation Run, Walk & Roll; I saw a growing movement,” said Rachael D’Eramo, the Marketing & Communications Director for the STARability Foundation.
“Crossing the $100,000 goal and having a record number of attendees was a testament to the power of teamwork, tremendous community support and a shared passion for transforming the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Collier County. STARability will continue to shine a light on all abilities far beyond the finish line!”
Earlier in the month, The Shelter for Abused Women & Children hosted the 2023 Run to End Domestic Violence 5K on Oct. 12. The shelter’s vision is a community free from domestic violence and human trafficking.
Their mission is to lead and collaborate with the community to Prevent, Protect and Prevail over domestic violence and human trafficking.
“We were pleased with the success of the 2023 Run to End Domestic Violence race that we hosted with Gulf Coast Runners” said Linda Oberhaus, CEO of The Shelter for Abused Women & Children.
“This was our first race at the Paradise Coast Sports Complex and the facilities were amazing. The staff was receptive and easy to work with. We would definitely recommend this venue to any group looking to conduct a benefit race for funding or awareness.”
